In a press release published April 8, 2014 the paper and board manufacturer Smurfit Kappa drew attention to a new board product providing a blocking mechanism against mineral oil migration into food. According to the manufacturer the blocking mechanism is present on the entire surface including the cut edges of the board. The board will be compliant with the German prospective legislation of mineral oils. Currently, the 2nd draft of the ordinance is being debated.
