On July 24, 2018, reporter Jim Johnson informed in an article published by Plastics News that Aramark, an international company providing food service, facilities, and uniform services, has announced to significantly reduce single-use disposable plastics. Aramark based its decision on a customer survey according to which 60% of the respondents “are concerned about the overuse of plastic.” The company will start to decrease the use of straws and stirrers, aiming at 60% reduction by 2020; bags and single-use cutlery shall then follow.
