The recycled plastics have to meet the following conditions: 1) The recycling process must obtain a favorable scientific opinion by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), 2) regional health authorities must be notified of the manufacture of the recycled material to facilitate official controls, 3) the recycling process used to obtain the recycled PET or other plastic material must follow the manufacturing conditions specified by EFSA, and 4) the recycled plastic containers or materials shall only be used in applications evaluated by EFSA.
