On May 22, 2015 the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) published an article informing about the ongoing efforts of the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI) to develop a national nanomaterial registry. In October 2013 the Swedish government published a national action plan for nanomaterials demanding a nano-specific revision of the European Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation, including a separate registration of nanomaterials (FPF reported). KEMI was mandated to design a nanomaterial register in Sweden. The Swedish Ministry of the Environment requested KEMI to draft a proposal for a register and conduct an impact assessment. KEMI will run consultations with agencies and stakeholders and aims to finalize this process by December 1, 2015.
