On December 16, 2016 the Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office published the new national food law which will enter into force on May 1, 2017. The food law encompasses the regulation of materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The main regulatory text on food contact materials (FCMs) was updated on December 19 and three corresponding annexes were updated on December 16, 2016. Annexes 2, 9, and 10 provide positive lists of substances to be used in the manufacture of plastic articles, silicone articles, and printing inks, respectively.
