The 2015 annual meeting of the European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX) will take place on September 13-16, 2015 in Porto, Portugal. As a part of the meeting, the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) Europe will host a continuing education course on “Thresholds of toxicological concern – basics and latest developments” on September 13, 2015 (9.30-16.00). This course is designed to provide an overview of the basic scientific principles of the tiered threshold of toxicological concern (TTC) approach and its potential applications for safety assessments. Further, most up to date knowledge and progress on specific endpoints and methods will be presented. Criteria and tools to assess applicability of the TTC concept to different types of chemistries and natural substances will be discussed. This will enable participants to develop an understanding of the confidence in the assessment of a given substance by the TTC approach.
