In an article published on January 10, 2020, certification company SGS reported that Turkey has adopted new laws that will further align its regulations on plastics used in contact with food to European Union Regulation (EU) 10/2011. On December 25, 2019 it published Notification 2019/43 on food simulants for migration testing in plastic food contact materials (FCMs) and Notification 2019/44 on plastic FCMs. The provisions of the notifications will become effective on December 31, 2020. SGS provided an overview table of highlights within the two notifications including exemptions, overall migration limits, specific migration limits, declarations of compliance, a list of authorized substances containing over 1,000 entries, and food simulants.
