The non-governmental organization ChemSec published the 2nd edition of its “SIN producers list for investors”(pdf) listing manufacturers of chemicals listed on the Substitute it Now! (SIN) list of chemicals of concern. The SIN list comprises chemicals with carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic (CMR) properties as well as those with toxic properties of equivalent concern including endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). The SIN producers list for investors aims to assist investors in evaluating companies and the financial risks associated with producing chemicals of concern. The list covers both the MSCI World Developed Markets Index and the STOXX® All Europe 800 Chemicals index. ChemSec states in the report that with the publication it hopes to encourage investors “to raise the right questions [and to] motivate companies to move out of hazardous chemicals into the growth potential market of safer alternatives”.
