On April 10, 2018, media platform Euractiv will hold a workshop entitled “Safe and circular: Making food contact material work for consumers and the environment“ in Brussels, Belgium. The event will address the impact of the circular economy, more specifically the use of recycled materials for new packaging, on the quality and safety of food contact materials (FCMs). Several key questions regarding “the future of FCMs and how to ensure high standards for consumers and the environment” will be discussed. Speakers include Sabine Jülicher of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), Pavel Poc of the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), Jane Muncke of the Food Packaging Forum, and Jean-Paul Judson of the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE).
