Lindsey earned a BSc in environmental science and BA in environmental education from Western Washington University as well as an MSc in biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In Fairbanks, she studied the environmental factors that influence wild blueberry and cranberry production while also collaborating with a range of education and food policy organizations. She was the graduate representative of the Bonanza Creek LTER and one of the US representatives at the 4th Korea Arctic Academy. While studying data science at Propulsion Academy Zurich, she worked with the ETH Library Lab and Zurich Herbarium to co-create a deep learning neural network to automatically classify plant characteristics from specimen photos.
