On December 6, 2022, Jane Muncke, Managing Director at the Food Packaging Forum, presented during a webinar hosted by Zero Waste Europe on the future of recycling plastic food packaging and the use of recycled plastic in food contact applications. Jane discussed the challenges of ensuring safety given the thousands of different intentionally and non-intentionally added chemicals that can be present in plastics. Bastian Schupp from the European Commission then presented on the new EU Regulation 2022/1616 for recycled plastics in food contact materials (FPF reported). The presentations were followed by questions from the audience and a discussion. The presentation slides are available for download.
