Identifying chemicals and polymers of concern

As part of the preparations for the third negotiating session for the UN Global Plastics Treaty, the United Nations Environmental Programme held a webinar dedicated to “Identifying chemicals and polymers of concern”, highlighting work at UNEP and in academia for the criteria to identify plastic chemicals of concern. Jane Muncke presented the work done by the Food Packaging Forum in this area. Martin Wagner shared preliminary results on the PlastChem project which is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and publicly available database on plastic chemicals, prioritized based on their hazard properties. Other speakers include Roland Weber, presenting the UNEP report on chemicals in plastics (to which FPF also contributed).
