On April 25, 2017, at 02:00 pm CEST (Central European Summer Time), the Food Packaging Forum (FPF) held a public webinar on food contact materials (FCM) regulation in China.

New regulatory requirements for food packaging and other articles that come into contact with foods are entering into force in China in April and October 2017 (FPF reported). This webinar provided background information on the rationale for the new regulations, discussed main differences to existing food contact regulations in Europe and the U.S., and explained how enforcement will be carried out to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

Dr. Marco Zhong, director of the National Reference Laboratory for Food Contact Materials in Guangdong, China, and chairman of the Expert Committee for Food Contact Materials of the China National Food Industry Association was speaking.

Due to the technical difficulties experienced during the webinar, FPF will hold a second webinar on Chinese FCM regulation on May 18, 2017, at 03:00 pm CEST. Dr. Marco Zhong will conclude his presentation and afterwards there will be time for questions.
