On January 22, 2015 the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) announced that most of the open plenary meetings scheduled for 2015 will take place in Brussels, Belgium to make it easier for external observers to participate. Furthermore, for each open plenary meeting of its Scientific Panels or Scientific Committee EFSA now provides 15 seats on average instead of ten. EFSA has already adapted its Guidelines for Observers to simplify participation. The initiative is part of the EFSA’s move towards the goal of an open science organization and should encourage scientific dialogue with its stakeholders.
