On October 15-16, 2014 experts from the industry, authorities and associations, gathered in Nice, France, at the Food Contact Materials & Compliance conference. The conference, organized by European Plastics News in association with Intertek, addressed various aspects of national, European as well as global food contact regulations from different perspectives.

The conference featured a workshop for newcomers to food contact materials (FCMs) led by Intertek experts Jürgen Towara and Nadine Thomis. This was followed by a diverse set of talks. Presentations delivered covered among other topics FCM regulations and latest regulatory developments in Europe, U.S. and China, an overview over Nestlé’s packaging safety and compliance initiative, food contact in industrial machinery, biocidal products as used in FCMs, approaches for printing ink compliances and exposure estimation for non-intentionally added substances (NIAS) using the FACET model. The FPF took part in the meeting presenting our latest research publication on food contact substances and chemicals of concern.
