On July 18, 2018, the non-governmental organization International Chemical Secretariat (ChemSec) published a news release on the announcement of the High Ambition Alliance (HAA) for chemicals and waste by Swedish environmental minister Karolina Skog at the UN High Level Political Forum in New York.
Ministerial level representatives from different governments and senior representatives from intergovernmental organizations, industry and civil society are members of the HAA. It shall “play a critical role in promoting a future global deal on chemicals and waste within the UN system.” Skog demanded sound management of chemicals and global cooperation to reach the UN’s sustainable development goals.
