On October 24, 2018, the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes and Processing Aids (CEP Panel) published the meeting minutes of its Working Group (WG) on Recycling Plastics. The first meeting of the plastics recycling WG was held on October 9, 2018 in Parma, Italy.

During the meeting, the WG discussed and noted changes for the draft opinion on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling process RecyPET Hungaria (FPF reported). The draft opinion will be again discussed and possibly adopted at the next CEP Panel meeting. Further, the WG noted changes for the draft opinion on the PET recycling process AMB (Bandera technology) (FPF reported) which will be again discussed at the next WG meeting. Lastly, the WG “was informed about new mandates on recycling processes that were received by EFSA” (FPF reported).

The next meeting of the plastics recycling WG is scheduled to be held on November 13, 2018, by phone conference.
