The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published the outcomes of its ONE 2022 Conference that took place in June 2022 in the form of a peer-reviewed journal article as well as a conference report article in EFSA’s own journal. The event gathered over 2,700 participants from academia, public institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector to discuss food and feed safety from a broader sustainable food systems perspective with a one health approach. It featured over 120 talks across a range of different sessions, all of which were recorded and are freely available to re-watch.

The two published reports provide a summary of key messages taken from the event. To advance food safety assessments,  new ways of working are required  that include cross-sectoral cooperation and more integrated approaches. The one health approach  can also support the needed transition to safe, nutritious, and sustainable food. The conference report provides a set of six recommendations that emerged from the conference discussions, including keeping up with science and data, investing in future preparedness, and applying the one health approach in future decision making.
