In an article published on February 18, 2019, the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) announced the “International Conference on Uncertainty in Risk Analysis” that will be held on February 20-22, 2019 in Berlin, Germany. The conference is being organized in partnership with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and will focus on “challenges and advances in assessing, managing, and communicating uncertainty.” The conference program includes talks by academic, government, and industry representatives on five topics including “uncertainty from a cognitive science point of view”, “methods of uncertainty analysis”, and “accounting for uncertainty in decision making.”

Registration for the conference is currently closed due to capacity limitations, however a live stream of the event will be made available online. The event will be held in English.

EFSA recently released a guidance document on communicating uncertainty (FPF reported), which supports an earlier guidance document on uncertainty analysis in scientific assessments (FPF reported).
