The experts summed by EFSA in June consider that for substances for which a non-monotonic dose-response (NMDR) might be suspected the tiered approach currently used in toxicological assessment not to be adequate. Yet, they thought the current risk assessment approach to be adequate for low dose issues, but believe more low doses in toxicological assessments to be necessary. Some experts believed that the identification of Mode of Action took prevalence of low dose concerns. The summary report published by EFSA presented the results of a workshop that took place in Parma from 14-15 June 2012.
