On March 14, 2018, the industry group European Centre for Ecotoxicology and Toxicology of Chemicals (ECETOC) published its annual report of 2017. The report highlights the activities of ECETOC’s task forces, workshops, and expert working groups.

The task forces’ areas of work include endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) where ECETOC developed a guidance on how to put in practice the EDC guidance published by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) (FPF reported). Another task force was established on human health and environmental safety of polymers.

Workshops were held on topics such as data standardization across omic platforms, environmental exposure modeling, and the role of ecotoxicological assessments for product environmental evaluations. Expert working groups addressed matters such as biodegradation default half-life values, metabolomics data, and the equivalent level of concern (ELOC).

The report further lists ECETOC’s risk assessment tools (FPF reported) and publications of 2017.
