In an article published on February 13, 2019, the Nanotechnology Industries Association (NIA) informed about a new report from the European Commission (EC) Joint Research Centre (JRC) on concepts and terms used in the EC’s definition of nanomaterial. The report is described as supporting “the implementation of the European Commission’s Recommendation on a definition of nanomaterial (2011/696/EU)” and discusses key concepts and terms in a regulatory context. It is not aimed at any specific legislative area and instead “provides recommendations for a harmonized and coherent implementation of the nanomaterial definition in any specific regulatory context at European Union and national level.”
