On October 17, 2013 the Food Packaging Forum held the “Threshold of Toxicological Concern (TTC) for risk assessment of food contact material chemicals” workshop. 60 attendees from industry, academia and regulatory agencies gathered in Zurich, Switzerland to discuss challenges and opportunities of the TTC. During the workshop presenters from European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), consulting agencies and various universities talked on different aspects of the TTC concept. The meeting was closed with a discussion on how the challenges of the TTC could be addressed and what potential impacts of its application on general risk assessment may ensue.
