On February 26, 2018, the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavourings and Processing Aids (CEF Panel) published the latest update of the meeting minutes of its Working Group (WG) on Recycling Plastics. The 21st meeting of the plastics recycling WG was held on February 6, 2018 in Parma, Italy.

During the meeting, the WG discussed the draft opinion on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling processes ‘Linpac’ (FPF reported). For the finalization of the opinion, the WG needs clarifications. EFSA will request more information from the applicant and the WG will again discuss the revised draft opinion. Further, the WG discussed and noted changes for the draft opinion of the PET recycling process ‘BTB (PET direct iV+ technology)’ (FPF reported). The revised draft opinion will be discussed and possibly adopted during the next CEF Panel meeting.

The next meeting of the plastics recycling WG is scheduled to be held on March 19-20, 2018 in Parma, Italy.
