On April 4, 2022, the US Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) posted a notice in the Federal Register that it is seeking opinions from stakeholders about the term “sustainable chemistry.” In the notification, the OSTP writes that “the term ‘sustainable chemistry’ does not have a consensus definition and most uses of the term indicate that it is synonymous with ‘green chemistry.’” The new clarified definition of ‘sustainable chemistry’ will then be used to guide federal policy, agency initiatives, and funding.

Interested individuals and organizations can respond to the request for information until June 3, 2022.
