On March 14, 2018, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published a new technical report entitled “Guidelines on EFSA consultations.” The report “illustrates all the relevant aspects to be taken into account when running a consultation,” including i) motivation and scope, ii) definition of the issues at stake, iii) identification of relevant stakeholders, iv) selection of appropriate means of consultation, and v) description of how submitted comments will be managed. The objective of publishing these guidelines it to increase “transparency, visibility and openness of the scientific risk assessment.”
