The European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Food Contact materials, Enzymes and Processing Aids (CEP Panel) published the minutes of the 9th and 10th meetings of its Working Group (WG) on BPA re-evaluation. The 9th meeting was held on May 14, 2019, in Parma, Italy, and the 10th meeting was held on June 11, 2019, in Brussels Belgium.

During the 9th meeting, “the outcome of the pilot phase was presented, discussed and agreed by the experts” and the experts discussed the appraisals of the new papers and solved identified conflicts. An overview of the BPA re-evaluation project including the number of papers still to be appraised and the timelines were reviewed. Lastly, the experts were assigned new evaluations for the next WG meeting.

During the 10th meeting, the experts re-discussed the outcome of the pilot phase and provided clarifications. Similar to the 9th meeting, the WG continued reviewing paper appraisals and solving the conflicts identified. New papers to evaluate were assigned to the experts for the next WG meeting.

The 11th meeting was scheduled to be held on July 4, 2019 via teleconference.
